What I Thought I Knew: Curator Tour
Thursday 15th August
Curator's Tour of exhibition What I Thought I Knew, followed by Q&A
Guest curator Ronan Mckenzie leads a tour of exhibition What I Thought I Knew, followed by an open discussion between Mckenzie and Bernie Grant Arts Centre’s Artistic Director, Azieb Pool.
Join us for an exclusive Curator’s Tour led by the visionary multidisciplinary artist and Bernie Grant Arts Centre’s guest curator, Ronan Mckenzie. This unique event offers a deep dive into our current exhibition, What I Thought I Knew, featuring an inspiring collection of works by 11 artists, both emerging and established.
The tour will take place in our newly renovated mezzanine gallery space, where you will have the rare opportunity to explore the exhibition alongside the curator herself. As you walk through the gallery, Mckenzie will share her curatorial insights, revealing the thought processes and decisions behind the selection and arrangement of the works on display.
Discover the themes and subject matter that weave these diverse pieces into a cohesive narrative, and gain a deeper understanding of the artistic journeys and perspectives of each featured artist.
Following the tour, attendees will come together for an open discussion with Ronan Mckenzie and BGAC’s CEO and Artistic Director, Azieb Pool. Attendees are encouraged to participate, ask questions, and share their own thoughts.
Supported by the Freelands Foundation’s Space to Dream fund, the exhibition forms part of Black Art Matters, a three year visual arts project at the Centre, exploring the Black experience.
Book your free ticket today and join us for an evening of art, insight, and conversation.
