We’re dedicating a whole day to family fun at #TLF22. Join us for a stellar line up of Black authors telling the most diverse children’s stories. We’ve got storytime readings, author talks, illustration tutorials, zine-making workshops, performances and buzzing our arts and books market. Featuring Lemn Sissay, Tola Okogwu, Cocoa Girl & Boy Magazine and others. See below the programme so far with more to be announced soon.

Talks in the BGAC Theatre will be BSL interpreted. There will be a roaming BSL interpreter throughout the day in BGAC, if you need this service please select this when booking tickets.

Join Lemn Sissay in this family picturebook fun adventure with Don’t Ask The Dragon! For ages 3 and upwards. As part of #TLF22’s Big Read initiative, every child will receive a free copy of the book to take home.

Tola Okogwu’s Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun

Join Tola Okogwu in the fantastical, super-powered hair adventures of Onyeka! For ages 7 and upwards.

What’s poppin’ in the Hub:
Zine-making Time
14:00 – 16:00 | The Hub
Come and busy your hands in zine making with award-winning Cocoa Girl & Boy Magazine. This drop in workshop is open to children aged 6 upwards and accompanying adults.

Refilwe
16:45 – 17:30 | BGAC Theatre
An exciting work in progress sharing of Refilwe, a bold and brilliant theatre adaptation inspired by  Zukiswa Wanner’s Refilwe, a modern retelling of the fairytale classic Repunzel. Adapted by Bisola Alabi. Sharing delivered in partnership with National Youth Theatre, Talawa and Spark Arts Festival. Suitable for 5-9. The Refilwe sharing is part of our free programme but tickets will be required.
