Based in the heart of Tottenham, The RecordShop is a free recording studio and artist development hub that discovers and nurtures emerging artists. Tottenham Originals is a showcase curated by founder Mary Otumahana, aka rap artist WondRWomN.
WondRWomN
A North London lyricist that has been rapping since her teens, WondRWomN was heavily influenced by the likes of 2Pac and Eminem growing up. She loves hip hop beats and uses words to deliver thought-provoking themes and captivate crowds. As well as being a musician, WondRWomN is the founder of the youth recording studio and artist development programme, The RecordShop. WondRWomN has won several awards for her community endeavours and is also the face of the Tottenham Hotspurs new kit campaign.
Loux
Luther Lamarr Acheampong, known more commonly by his stage name ‘Loux’, is a North London native who is breaking all boundaries to express his art and develop his own sound. Living his adolescent years and young adult life in Tottenham exposed the artist to the social and economical issues also rooted in this area of London, playing a huge role in understanding race equality. Loux has now set out to be the voice of this generation, appealing to people across all ages, he hopes to share his personal stories and perspective through his rhymes for the world to hear.
Haylee Venus
A social entrepreneur, humanitarian activist, singer and creative artist born and raised in Tottenham, Haylee Venus is a leading member of a number of social change projects and community-led enterprises. She also works at The Selby Centre as a Community Organiser on a Connecting Communities Project, supporting migrants to feel welcome and equipped in Haringey. She established herself through a creative network, Embrace U Empire, and has since been working as a performer, creative artist and entrepreneur within communities and in partnership with community organisations addressing homelessness, Inspiring Edge Fashion Show and Spoken, a youth-led performance project, amongst many community initiatives.
Shocka
Growing up in Tottenham, Shocka has witnessed the good, bad and the ugly, but throughout all that he is trying to shine a positive light on the area that has seen so much negativity. He has experienced different cultures, while staying humble and grateful. His journey started in 2008, when he released Beast on the Loose which led to joining a group called Marvell made up of himself, Vertex and Double S. In late 2014 Shocka decided it was time to branch out as an independent artist.
