Windrush Festival Opening: Inside Out London

Monday 21 June – 1pm-5pm - booking required

We welcome you back to the centre, to celebrate the Windrush Generation

On 21st June we’ll open our doors again to welcome you back to the centre for a week of performances, workshops and live events that celebrate the descendants and community of the Windrush Generation here in Tottenham and beyond.

We’re thrilled to be taking part in Inside Out London, the world’s largest global participatory art project, where we’ll be showcasing local heroes from Tottenham’s Black community in a large-scale public art exhibition.

Across the world, over the last decade, more than 400,000 people spanning 138 countries have taken part in The Inside Out Project. Each exhibition displays large-scale black and white photographs featuring faces and stories of people from communities that often go unseen and unheard. In our exhibition, we’ll be displaying photographs of Black people from our local Tottenham community, individuals who make the area the thriving, nurturing and dynamic community that it is.

You can come and get your picture on our walls by booking here – scroll down and find our event under Tottenham Green. Come be part of the action – we want to see your face on our place! The public art installation will be up until 4 July for you to see.

This is the start of a week of activity that will celebrate Black British culture. Join us on the evening of Tuesday 22 June for An Evening of performances hosted by Carroll Thompson, the undisputed Queen of Lover’s Rock. Come to see the incredible Yolanda Brown and her quintet on Saturday 26 June, and bring the whole family on Sunday 27 for a very special inter-generational Windrush Block Party, hosted by Disco Loco.

If you can’t join us to enjoy our Windrush Festival events in person, you can also buy a virtual ticket to access streamed performances from across our programme here.
