A series of installations, photographs and performances stretching around Tottenham
Tottenham Now is a collaboration between international artist Lakwena, performance artist Kazuko Hohki, Earlsmead Primary School, Park View Secondary School, and Ada National College for Digital Skills.
A multi faceted project produced by Susan Ibreck, Tottenham Now centres around a large commissioned mural by celebrated graphic artist Lakwena that transforms the corner of Broad Lane and Page Green Common. The mural, painted on a Transport for London air vent, uses colour and text to reflect on the heritage of the Seven Sisters area and was inspired by the thoughts and ideas of local residents and businesses. The phrase ‘We Stand Together’ relates to the circle of seven trees that have stood in some form for hundreds of years on Page Green Common and determines the Seven Sisters area name.
With this mural at the heart of the project, Tottenham Now worked with Lakwena and locally based artists, pupils, parents and staff from Earlsmead Primary School, Year Eight pupils from Park View Secondary School, and Graphic Design students from Ada National College for Digital Skills to create an additional series of art installations, photographic and audio works and performances that stretches from the Bernie Grant Arts Centre to Page Green Common.
Made in Tottenham, supported by Haringey Council.
Crossing Tottenham: July 2 @ 6:30pm
Join us for Crossing Tottenham, a movement-based piece created by Kazuko Hohki, Aya Hosokawa and pupils from Earlsmead Primary School. The performance explores ideas behind migration and journeys and features a choreographed parade through the local area.
We will be celebrating the entire project from 6-8 pm in the courtyard.
