Hopelessly In Love: An Evening of Performances hosted by Carroll Thompson
Music and performances hosted by Carroll Thompson
Soak up the summer vibes with our fabulous Windrush Festival reopening mixed bill hosted by Queen of Lover’s Rock, Carroll Thompson.
Start the evening with sing-along anthems and slow jams from Caroll Thompson and her legendary Lover’s Rock crew and Victor Romero Evans. Enjoy spoken word and readings from Sarah Lasoye and Leone Ross. Hear from and watch Sky Portrait Artist of the Year 2020 Curtis Holder as he draws his magic (maybe even you!) and listen to DJ sets from Shy One and Chante Deez. There will also be a celebration of sound system culture from the incredible Turner Prize nominated Black Obsidian Sound System, an art, sound and radical activist community of queer, trans and non binary people of colour.
Food and a bar will be available in our courtyard throughout the evening.
“It’s an honour to host an evening of eclectic and exceptional talent at the reopening of Bernie Grant Arts Centre. As one of the creative artists commissioned by Artistic director/CEO Hannah Azieb, the support I have been privileged to receive to develop a brand new play and curate an ‘Evening with’, has been immeasurable … exciting times ahead at BGAC!”
