Think lace, rival bands, romance and Prince at his peak
Purple Rain is a classic musical film, storming with 80’s looks, drama and charisma.
Prince loosely plays himself as The Kid, a funk rock star who in turn is sexy, vulnerable, self-destructive and sexist. The music of Purple Rain is a soundtrack to The Kid’s growth. Growth as an artist, growth of his love to music rival Appollina, and personal growth once he realises he is becoming his father despite fighting to escape his dark past.
Purple Rain went on to be one of the biggest selling soundtracks of all time, gaining world-wide notoriety and confirming Prince’s genius as an artist. Prince’s magnetism is impossible to resist, and the music tracks from ‘Let’s Go Crazy’, ‘When Doves Cry’ and ‘I Would Die 4 U’ you too will be chairing dancing in our cosy cinema to this Oscar-winning movie.
