The Annual Bernie Grant Memorial Lecture, with Dr. Kehinde Andrews

This year’s Annual Bernie Grant Memorial Lecture will be given by Professor Kehinde Andrews. The lecture, titled; The Battle for Black Studies, exploring the education system, liberation and the curriculum, will be followed by a panel discussion featuring comedian and journalist Ava Vidal, broadcaster and film maker Bidisha and deputy editor, Opinion at the Guardian Joseph Harker. Chaired by Dotun Adebayo MBE. Followed by a book signing of Back to Black.

Kehinde Andrews is a professor of Black Studies at Birmingham City University and the director of the Centre for Critical Social Research. An academic, activist and author whose books include Back to Black: Retelling Black Radicalism for the 21st Century (2018). His first book was Resisting Racism: Race, Inequality and the Black Supplementary School Movement (2013). This event is in partnership with the Bernie Grant Trust.
