Saturday 5th August

On Saturday 5th August from 12 - 6 pm, we'll be putting the spotlight on incredible local talent with performances as varied as hip hop and ballet, contemporary and street dance. Drop in for a drink or a bite to eat in our newly refurbished Café and Bar, watch some the afternoon's free performances and enjoy the long summer afternoon.

Rebirth Network are an East London-based group creating exciting new work that blends hip hop, contemporary, spoken word and dance theatre. Having performed with the likes of Rihanna, The X Files, BRIT Awards and more, they are guaranteed to put on a powerful show. Later in the year, Rebirth will be offering a dance course for young people at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre - a great opportunity for young people to hone their dance and performance skills. More details to come.

Counterpoint Dance Company gives older people the chance to express their creativity through dance, creating a vibrant new image of the older person by developing, sharing and promoting creative ideas by over-55s. Working with older people from Tottenham, they will be creating an exciting new piece to be shared with the public. The company is run under the artistic direction of Simona Scotto, rehearsal director and choreographer for Sadler’s Wells Company of Elders.

Our resident street dance crew at the Bernie Grant Arts Centre, Steppaz brings dance and drama classes to children and young people - and they put on a spectacular show. Come cheer on these spectacularly gifted youngsters as they show off their moves!

And Aniko's Dance Academy will give a beautiful performance in the courtyard led by ballerina and instructor Aniko Solti.

What's more, there will be an artisan market featuring handmade goods from the Tottenham Artisan Market plus a bouncy castle and face painting for the children. Also present will be the Time Truck, a roving exhibition space from the Museum of London Archaeology featuring a new exhibition, Street Space, featuring creative work put together by young people from the Borough of Haringey.

The ideal way to spend a Saturday at the height of summer!
